CRITICAL THINKING PROGRAM
Do your students find it hard to express their opinions? Would you like to teach them to recognize stereotypes?
Then develop their critical thinking skills with Soft Kids For School!
The importance of critical thinking in our society
Our society is very different from that of the last century: the predominance of services, hyper-digitization, over- or de-information, ecological transformation...
In this context, analytical skills and critical thinking have become far more important than knowledge itself. As a result, employees are no longer expected to perform, but to be reflective, rigorously reasoning, proactive, and capable of making rational decisions in line with the issues and constraints at hand.
What do the national education programs say?
Skills related to critical thinking are very prominent in the programs, in particular :
- the ability to judge for oneself and identify beliefs, prejudices and stereotypes
- participation in a discussion, debate or dialogue

OUR program objectives
"CRITICAL THINKING
- Assert what you think while accepting differences of opinion
- Differentiate between fact and opinion
- Recognizing stereotypes
The program in detail
Session 1: Sorting, drag & drop and crossword games remind students that everyone has the right to have different opinions and to express them. Then they understand that several valid points of view can co-exist on the basis of an iconography.
Session 2: Students self-assess their assertiveness, then discover tips for saying what they think with kindness in everyday situations. They then put these tips into practice through role-playing.
Session 3: Children exercise their critical thinking skills by differentiating between truth and opinion with a sorting game on the application. Then, group activities enable them to assert and question their opinions on gender stereotypes.
Session 4: Finally, the class takesstock of what they've learned about critical thinking, and everyone completes a gap-fill text.
Our edutainment approach
Our approach combines independent games on tablet/computer and classroom activities.
But why use digital technology to work on CPS?
A variety of games enable students to reflect on themselves and discover best practices in concrete, everyday situations.
Ergonomics and easy-to-understand instructions encourage intuitive use by students: sorting games, drag & drop, MCQs, mazes, sophrology, etc.
Then a class activity is proposed. This could be, for example :
> a collective exchange or debate to develop opinions
> a role-playing game to put what you've learned into practice
> a small-group activity to consolidate what you've learned and learn to collaborate
> an artistic activity to develop creativity
> a task to formalize what you've learned, such as application exercises or the creation of a written record.
A turnkey tool
In your teacher interface, you will have access to all the resources you need to implement the session:
- student tracking charts,
- step-by-step teaching guides for easy-to-use sessions,
- student materials to be projected or photocopied,
- but also advice on how to use them,
- and a proposed annual progression, as well as references to official programs.
To sum up:
In short, the CRITICAL THINKING program will help your students to discern "true" from "false" and formulate a rational judgment. In this way, they will be able to distance themselves from prejudices or stereotypes and form opinions of their own.
